Newcastle, yes, the target configuration is the more stable of the three, there is another single point setup that cuts down any twist, it uses the bren sling and wraps around the forewood/topwood, with a twist to stop any load on the swivel, much the same setup we used with the SLR in competition, but as it is against the rules of service rifle shooting, I did not bother to show it.
Thunderbox, we also use the lockup sling in single point, however, as some matches are commenced without the sling in position, the sliding loop makes it quicker to get your arm in, tightening is automatic and can be painfull, but as these are rapids, they don't take long.
You will notice that there are 3 standard slings and a Owen sling(short), the Bren(long) sling can and is also used, but excess material becomes a hinderance when rapidity of movement is crucial, we often use the long sling for deliberate shooting.
The belts all are setup with a half twist, to ensure they lay along the wrist and don't cut in, there's only so much pain you can handle at once.

I have recently used it in the two point mode whilst squirrel hunting.
It's not quite as stable, but it is usable in all sorts of odd shooting positions and muzzle elevations. Not typical range use, but the critters are small and their heads are tinier yet, so every little bit helps as there's no bench or prepared position.
Could have moved the rear attach point forward of the mag on this rifle, as well, but results were fine as is.

I take it thats a .22" RF and not a .303"?!
If its .303, looks like the squirrel was killed by the shockwave of a near miss....

Note the .22 cartridge lying on the mag...

Top information thank you all. I'm going to a small bore rifle class tomorrow with my No.2 Mk4 and they use slings (GI pattern). I'd prefer to use what is tradish with and Enfield. This makes it much easier to understand.

For range use don't forget to try moving the rear swivel forward. Probably more useful for target use. But you don't need to be at the range to try the various set-ups. Pull the bolt out and practice at home!

rear swivel forward? to where? sorry you've lost me here.
do you mean attaching the rear of the sling to the swivel in front of the magazine?

But of course! It's fabulous! Useful, even.
