id bet the barrel date is 6-42, original barrel to the rifle, Springfield 1918 DHT bolt, stock is a Keystone, stock, not a pre war.
has been refinished at some point, should be a good safe shooter, Remingtons are a great rifle..
id say a good resale value is 750.00 to 800.00 retail.

The inspector's stamp O.G.E.K. on the stock within the rectangle box was done by Elmer Keith who worked as an arms inspector at Ogden Utah Arsenal. They rebuilt weapons to be used in the Pacific Theater in WWII. Another inspector who worked there at the same time with the same initials didn't use the rectagular box. Elmer Keith was the old Montana Cowboy and Big Game Hunter and guide who was originaly born in Ray County, Missouri (just over the eastern border from my home County of Clay) He later worked for Remington as well as wrote for Guns And Ammo magazine. Elmer invented the 357 Magnum as well as the 44 Magnum and some other calibers and was a Hell of a storyteller as the books that he authored will testify. He might've exagerated a small bit on some of what he told, but I don't think he ever lied. He was a legend in his time and still is actually. Fred G.
