What kind of rifle & cal. would you want to use when hunting a Bigfoot/Sasquatch ;-)
OK, I know this is a little strange but someone I know is writing a book and ask me the questions. Being a nonbeliever in such nonsense I didn't even know what to say.
But looking into the supposed topic of the mythic beast we're talking about a creature that walks on two legs, can move very fast, is very strong and robust, an excellent swimmer, has excellent night vision, is extremely elusive and cunning.
Weighs in at between 800 and 1200 pounds and is between 7 to 12 feet tall. It would live in rugged mountainous terrain near a water source like a river or lake.
It would be omnivorous and moves around mostly at night, but has been known to do so in the daytime as well, is supposedly known for hunting deer and elk. Is thought to be an ambush predator.
Usually only seen as a lone individual or a pair, but are thought to sometimes move in groups.
So the question was "What kind of rifle & caliber would you want to use when hunting a Bigfoot."
I would want something semi-auto, I'd guess a .308 would be good enough, so maybe an Springfield M1A
with a 20 round mag. (but than all I ever hunt are white tail deer) Probably would want a large cal. side arm for a close in backup too.
What do you all think?
Agree, disagree, or completely different choices.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this one

Has Bigfoot hurt anybody? Damaged and pillaged property? If not, leave him alone! Could be just a guy in a ape suit pulling a prank on everybody.

An opponent of that size and skill I would use a close quarter weapon. It would not be a rifle.. I would employ a TT33 pistol in .30 Mauser. In my hand it kills efficiently. big foot's armor is inadequate. and he has no gun.... Gary....

Hmm. Well if it had been proven that he was wandering into populated areas pulling arms off folks, I think a SMLE .303 would work just fine.
And a large Mickey Finn would be suitable for hooking Nessie, while we're at it..

In most places where Big Foot is seen or spoken about ,it is illegal to shot and kill the beast!

Ill play along. Binelli semi auto 12 gauge extended mag tube with a mix of slugs and 00 buckshot with a very large LED tactical flashlight out front.
"He heard a twig snap behind him swung the Binelli around his 250 lumen tactical light blinding the beast and giving him just enough time to discharge a warning shot"" Then he walked back to camp and changed his under pants."
I expect to see myself in the credits if this makes it into the book. No monetary compensation required.

Again I
DO NOT Believe in this nonsense, but I'm willing to ask a question to help a friend write his book.

So again if those with a hunting background could take it serious on the "what if" & "maybe" factor for a few seconds so that I can have something to tell my friend for his book it would be nice.
Maybe you should try smoe hunting fotums, rather then a militry forum ..............................
So I can't spell, so what!!!

My son had a Anthropology Prof. who had a friend (Anthropologist) in Washington State that was trying to get funding to hunt and kill one with a armed chopper. True story, proves you can't fix stupid.
I think personally I would hunt one with a BBQ, salmon would be my choice and bet he would surrrender willingly when he got the scent.
Think he would probably want to wash it down with a beer, probably a Kokanee....only a Canadian
will probably get this one...LOL

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I know I would surrender especially if the beers were cold.
