assuming I get the pic right. The rifle is a proto-type rifle we picked up in 1983. It is a Springfield model 1903 A1, NM proto-type sniper trials rifle. It was considered un-fit for consideration due to the Germanoptics. The Lt Col. we bought this rifle from got it off the un-serviceable rack at Ft Benning GA in the mid 1940's just prior to a leave where he was going hunting in PA. He had gone to the Q.M. to try to take one of the new style sniper weapons for his trip, but, the Q.M. wouldn't/couldn't give him a new style rifle due to the high demand in the Pacific theater. So he had to take one from the un-serviceable rack. He used this rifle for hunting right up to the year we bought it from him. We had to swear to Christ that we would not break up the rifle for parts before he would sell it to us. It shoots 1" groups @ 200 yards with handloads and 2.5" with L.C. ammo-SDH
