Advice needed ... bolt opens on firing!

You don't need a bolt stripping tool to test the striker spring. IN fact, it must be IN the bolt to test it....... The fired position should require a 7 - 9 lb load to move the cocking piece rearwards and in the cocked position, it should require a 13 - 16 lb load.

Forgot to say........ But as I do say occasionally, in my limited experience in these things, if a striker spring weighs in at much less than the minimum 7lbs weight, then it won't fire the round (Mk7 UK ball I'm talking about here...)
