    My first M1917's

I purchase my first two M1917's yesterday and was hoping to get some feedback from experts on these guns. I am new to collecting surplus guns and am not up to speed on the 1917 yet.
I plan on keeping one of the guns for my collection and selling the other. Any suggestions on which one to keep?

I apologize in advance if I didn't take the right pictures for you to evaluate the guns.

It depends on what you want to do with them.
They are both in roughly the same external condition, with the Remington being slightly in better shape.
If you want a shooter, bore condition is the most important thing to check, if you are collecting, neither one is "as it left the factory" correct.
Need better pictures of the stock bolt handle cutout and the front of the stock tip (to see any markings there) to determine stock make.
Here is a web site that will tell you what the correct markings are for all component parts.

Both rifles were designed to shoot. Take both to the range. Shoot them. Keep the one that groups the best.

    Buy more and repeat.

savage enfield problems can any one help ??

i have a savage enfield ( pics too be posted later ) the rifle was butchered and in sad shape before i got it and after a bit of work seems too be coming together BUT here are the two main problems.

1 the trigger seems to be locked back against the Trigger guard/ mag frame
even with the trigger guard off the rifle its still locked back.

2 the safety seems to be keeping the bolt from being pulled back /cycling
the only way too pull the bolt back is take the safety off completely.

the whole rifle was parkerized (And yes i know its not orig)but i wanted a finish that i didn't have too worry about if it got scratched or fell off a table stand etc.

and i wonder if maybe some one didn't put a pin in wrong or the finish is causing some of the problems.

i would hate too think that a well known gun shop with its own TV show could be so incompetent on such a simple gun project.

Can any one help me ??

    thanks

Cunninghamed, You might have better luck asking about your rifle on the Lee-enfield forum.

    Yes, keep the shooter.

    What, they both shoot?

    Keep the shooters!

(you may find that one or the other is better, but not always the same one - depending on the ammo)

Cunninghamed, Just guessing but I'd say the Savage No.4 has it's trigger-sear-spring assembly installed incorrectly as well as the safety. Do I get my own TV show?
