Australian marking disc?
This came on an Australian skeleton action SMLE and I've always assumed it was 4th Australian Light Horse but looking over some old threads on the subject I see that these all seem to be marked ALH. Is this one Light Horse or does the lack of an A make it something else?

There were several variations that differed from the Quartermasters Guide and Equipment Regulations For The Army that I saw when writing the little paperback book. The Kings Shropshire Light Infantry was listed as SALOP, as in 7-SALOP but we had old rifles and other exampes as 7-KSLI for the Territorial Battalion. Abingdon School was also listed as RSS (for Roysses College but again as ABN and Radley College as both StPC and RAD. They were just local ones I was able to research easily.
While I don't know, it would seem a simple matter to leave the A out of yours as there's not too many other nationalities having a Light Horse in Australia - or anywhere! Likewise ASC and AOC were used instead of the Royal prefix as in RAOC or RASC.
Just my thoughts. But generally speaking, while we had quite a few original butt marked rifles at Warminster to check with, the Equipment Regulations book was accurate
