A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... This thread goes back a loooooong way and I ain't reading that far back again but is there any dispute about that butchered brackets originality in respect to that particular L42? I would say with more or less certainty, based on nothing more than a couple of years service and another couple of years of the same as an Armourer that the bracket was not butchered like that or matched to that rifle in UKicon service. If it was and was butchered like that, you can be rest assured that there would have been some searching questions to have been answered - followed by what we used to call '..... a long report on a short bit of paper' followed by a NM&D (neglect, misuse and damage) report followed shortly by a hefty bill for the miscreant

I agree, but the question at this point is/was about all other aspects of the rifle and kit but the scope mount. And of course you know the scope is genuine because you recently did a complete refurb on it.

Send me the number and I'll confirm it. Not disputing that it ain't one that I've done in the past but you'd be absolutely gobsmacked by the amount that have a black and shiny finish with my name attached to them, sometimes by by fair means but others........, well............ Some of 'em don't seem to feature on my work sheet library though. Must have done them in my sleep!

Charlie, you'll find that many on this forum, including me I hasten to add, tend to wander off at a tangent. It's not to everyones cup of tea of course but life's a bit like that
