    American Marines of the U.S. 1st Marine Division treat a badly burned comrade during the Battle of Peleliu (codename: Operation Stalemate II). The battle was waged between between the United Statesicon and the Empire of Japanicon from 15 September 1944 to 27 November 1944 on the Pacific island of Peleliu.
