This works fairly well. You don't have the control of an air brush,, but it's easy and more affordable.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Suncorite

I tried every thinner in the book with Suncorite, and the only one that freely dissolved it without precipitation was Propanol (Isopropyl Alcohol). And it did a good job of cleaning out the gun. Only thin down whats in the gun though, it seems repeated thinning may have unintended consequences. I was taught to thin down paint for spraying so it drips freely from a screwdriver like milk, and apply several light coats. Meths seems to work as well, but there could be downstream effects. I wonder what the original intended thinner was?

It also seems to harden off considerably with age without the oven treatment. If you have used epoxy's or loctite in the gun, or low temp solder there could be consequences there as well in the oven.

The best finish of all is Duracoat, I got some on my finger nails, and could not wash, scrub or remove with a knife after a day. It grew out with my nails, and that took a month. You can vary the gloss by adding more or less hardener, but the hardener seems to get thicker with age and unusable eventually. No need to oven treat as it reaches maximum hardness in a few weeks. Great for the handy gun buff.

The best surface preparation for all these products is a good degrease clean with Acetone as a final preparation moments before spraying.

Aye, good stuff. Can be bought in a kit with everything one needs,,even the airbrush. Anybody can do a rifle or two in his garage.

WARNING!!! Plan on using in a well ventilated work area AND wear respirator or you'll know just what the Beatles meant by "I am the Walrus coo-coo cachoo coo-coo cachoo"...
