There is a place that repairs them. G.E. Fulton & Son at Bisley. I'm sure they have a drawer full of spares. Go to Fultons of Bisley - G E Fulton Son.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Peter at 20. Very good idea, now I wonder if the 2mm balls and springs would fit the browning 22 auto take down rifle, the balls and springs 'friends' lose when they push the catch too far. or the BSA Airsporter Gas tap?

I ain't familiar with those beasts (thread 22) but I am familiar with balls flying everywhere. If there was a kit of balls and springs, just think how easy it'd be to fix your own sight. If I a) knew all about them and the varints like Muffer and b) had the time and inclination, that's what I'd be doing.........

I did the same once with MGB GT V8 overdrives. Had the clutch and oil pump springs re-made plus the selectors that operated the overdrive, modified it so that it would ONLY engage on 4th, and sold them as a set. So if you wanted to repair your V8 overdrive or better still, convert a normal B overdrive to the uprated V8 spec, you had to get the bits from me....... And made a killing

Hi Peter, I remember a guy who put together a list of all the parts on a Reliant Scimitar and which cars they came from. I think every Scimitar owner the in country bought that book.
Did some research earlier today and all I really came up with was the earlier thread where you first discovered how wonderful these sights were!
So far I've found the ball bearings now I just need to find the springs, or giving up smoking and break up all my Bic lighters. Ziplock plastic bags with elasticated cuffs to put your hands in might be another great seller!

I had some 12" cut-off-what-you-need lengths of spring made but there was a min order. I'll get back on that In some instances you can use No4 clicker backsight springs

  7. Thank You to Peter Laidler For This Useful Post:

Robert, giving up the tabs is always a good thing, but you could buy a hundred bearings for a few ££

Thanks. I'm placing the order on Monday and am trying to learn about springs. Will be discussing this with some 'Techie' friends in the next couple of weeks.
