Sheesh, this thread is not helping my Long Branch fetish. Nice looking 1941 Long Branches. Wish I had one again - I think I have a spare kidney to sell

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I'm not near my books, but IIRC Savage only made about 1200 in 1941. I believe another poster here has number 1 and I've got number 769. Both were converted to T's by H&H but never scoped. I don't think mine was ever issued.

Personal experience leads me to believe that Savage made considerably more than 1200 Mk 1s in 1941. Have seen many more Savage made Mk. 1 than Long Branch made Mk. 1s. Have 2 of each.
Also, have seen and actually fondled Savage serial number 1.
