    Thanks for the welcome Jim. Yes, there is a davidson's import mark under the barrel and I have heard that they imported some from Israel. I have read that they stamped their M1s like that. The serial numbers on the stock match the IBM that's in there now. The numbers look real clean though. Have ya'll ever heard of someone stamping the guns serial number on the stock to make it look like like they've been together awhile? I'm 99.9% sure the GHD is a fake, but I wanted some more opinions before I steam it out. I can't stand fake stamps, especially on a real usgi stock. I wished I had asked the seller more questions, he didn't really talk about the stock, just the internal parts. Thanks for the welcome again and I look forward to being a part of this board.

    It is highly unlikely that someone would choose this stock to fake. The GHD/UEF is probably genuine. The Winchester stocks had nice deep well struck cartouches as well. They hold up well. Think about it: who would select a stock with the serial number blazed on the stock to fake? Enjoy it and forget about correcting it.
