What is Difference in Barrel Contour of NRA Sporter and 1903A1?
I was wondering if a 1903 N.R.A Sporter barreled action, would fit without any/slight inletting in a Boyds Classic Walnut pre-finished and fully inletted stock, made for a 1903A1? How much difference in Barrel Contour size is there in inches, between a NRA Sporter and 1903A1 barrel? Any help would be appreciated.

I would think that a Boyds inletted stock for the 1903A1 would also be inletted for the rear sight base too. The NRA Sporter would not have a rear sight base such as the 1903A!

Sir: I checked it is NOT inletted for a rear sight base on the Classic Model, their military stock is, but not the sporter style. Thanks for your Response but does anyone have the actual number, [ for example .000] in difference.
TIA

Brophy says that the sporter barrel weighs about 3 1/2 ounces MORE than the service or NM barrel, but does not give dimensions ( as far as I could find ). He also says that the .30 caliber Sporter barrel has the same dimensions as the .22 caliber barrel.

the barrels are a bit heavier then the standard 03 barrel, that came cut so a rear sight base could be added as well..
however.
id be amazed that any 1903 variant would fit any Boyds stock without a but of craving and grinding...
