Winchester WLR primer issues

I use a bunch of WLR. The only trouble I had was re using a WLR. I crushed a case neck and saved the primer and powder. When I reseated it in a new case it went in really easy. When fired in a M1917 there was some smoke and the small flame jet to the side of the primer. I did have some PRVI rem 223 match that pierced primers in an AR. But only two out of 200 cases.
