    Sten MkV pistol grip modification

    Attachment 62297
    Attachment 62298

Is the cut out area at the back of the pistol grip the work of an armorer or bubba?

I saw many kits as imported in the 90's and early 2000's that had grips modified that way. I'm pretty sure it as an Indian modification when the thin sides were broken. You can patch them to get them back to MoD specification.

That gun needs a No.7Mk.1 bayonet which was designed for it.

There was a repair for that and as Brian says, it was quite simple and very successful. |Put the patch on across the whole top of the grip, peg diagonally as I recall and make good. The front grip is something out of someones fertile imagination. The front grip was quite short and dumpy and not canted backwards like the thing shown.

Send that grip to me and I'll repair it and send it back.

Thanks, Brian. It hadn’t crossed my mind that it might be Indian.

    I will look for a No7 Mk1 bayonet.

Thanks for the very kind offer, Peter. But I am pretty sure I have one hiding in a box of Sten parts around here somewhere.

It will be a few months before the transfer goes through and I can get my mits on it.

Are these Sten barrels of some sort? They were in a box of Sten parts. I don't recognize them.

They sure look like them. Just a bit short is all.

They look like the ones that Numrich had in their mail order catalogue back in the late 80s, early 90s...
