Irish Contract Enfield No 4 MkII
Some guy on Gunbroker has one at auction for $1,195.00. Is he nuts or are they that rare?

The correct answer is: Nuts.
He types in ALLCAPS, too.

However, they will sell at that if they're new in the wrap, without the wrap but near new they can be found for 500 and a bit less. We have a local yokel selling a common peep sight for $575, doesn't mean anyone will show up for that party.
It gets interesting when a no4mk2 new/in wrap starts at 450 and then goes to $1200, which happens often enough.

Damn, I have two still in the wrap. I bought three in the wrap when they were first imported with bayonet. I cleaned one up.
Thanks, Tony

Again, an Irish Contract will have a S/n of PF309348 to PF359347. Some folks think any No4 in the wrap is an Irish Contract.
And I agree with Krinko, the seller is NUTS!
One must also keep in mind that only a part of that series got delivered to Ireland, the rest going to British
Stores.

John, I think at that price its the buyer who is nuts not the seller.

You may have a point there
That is if he finds a buyer.

my 'irish contract' was really a burma contract , like john said there were a number of contract mk2s and only a selected serialisation were irish , but i doubt that would matter to the seller , and will go over the head of the buyer
