Interesting how this site has a deep bias for Army infantry weapons. It begs the question why so many other weapons were NOT mentioned, such as :
-artillery shells that carried the Proximity Fuse, which Eisenhower said shortened the war by 1 1/2 years (and enabled us to shoot down V-1 rockets launched from Antwerp and Kamikaze planes in the Pacific from our cruisers and destroyers).
- the MaDeuce machine gun used by army and USAAF in warplanes almost universally (we even had them mounted topside on our ship in Vietnam they were so good)
- Bombs used over Germany, and, of course, the atom bomb.
Guess any source that used this unique spelling must not be the most authoritative:
