Very low numbered No32 Mk2...
Hi chaps - I wouldn't normally post a link to a live auction but this one has me slightly worried and it would be a shame if someone here came a cropper.
Enfield Sniper, No4, No32 Scope... | eBay
People far more knowledgable than me will have their say, but my interpretation of this was that everything in it doesn't look too clever. The no32 mk2 AK&S number 2275 is far too low, it looks like one of the repros, the S51 markings don't look real, the scope bracket has the scope's serial number on it (d'oh) and the seller 'admits' that the pads are the only reproduction part in the set as the rest was taken off a genuine 4t which was being 'broken up' (a common occurrance these days obviously). Anyway, it may be the seller has bought them as the genuine item and believes they are... but doesn't seem right to me. (He also claims the mk2 went to Fultons for full refurb at 'considerable cost'.

Why cannot we see the right side of the mount to see if the brackets are numbered also that rear sight looks as if the battle aperture has just been filed off, the F looks like it is hand stenciled, the S51 looks horrid and why isn't the crows foot full of dirt also to give that weather beaten look me I am sure some one from here with the expertise should warn this seller that it may not be legit. He may have brought it in good faith, if some one has the list of scopes/rifle and match the number off the socket to the scope (186711 or 87611) anyway I may just watch this one. Buyer beware perhaps

I would agree entirely. Whilst not accusing the vendor of anything (he may have bought the parts in good faith), the scope, bracket, & pads are all clearly reproductions. I am not entirely sure about the rear sight, cheekpiece & butt (would need more & better photo's), though I think if original, the butt has been got at. The purported rifle serial number on the butt contains too many digits for a start off! It may be my eyes, but the final '1' looks a bit different to the '1' stamped before it. The cheekpiece could quite possibly be genuine, though.
All in all not 1,800 pounds worth. I have sold cased No32 Mk3's for slightly less than that, & in the quite recent past.....

Scope is a repro ...
Looks like one of the ones that came through Belgium
by the engraving, however it is a pacific rim repro.
Mount also is repro with some minor file work done and stamping a number on it.
The current crop of repro's has dried up and not expected to be repeated, however RSM is making a repro in China and they are getting a bit better at it.
The first ones were beyond words...........

Beyond words! You can say that again Warren. I'm never usually lost for words but I was when I got into a couple.

As stated by others, scope, rings and pads are clearly reproductions

Has anyone contacted the seller ? Maybe he is in belief that what he has is kosher ....... but there are good things still to be had on that site, see link below.
The last edition.... to the workshop.

Seems an "experienced" seller when you look at what else he's got listed at present. Trials no4 woodwork, foresight etc. Aldis scope...
