I'll sadly never deal with Jon Moore again. Took payment for a PPCo scope case and lens caps, all nice and emails from him up till the date of supposed delivery, then nothing. Wouldn't return emails, nor answer his phone/return messages after I received his number from a website domain lookup.

A real shame as I bought one of his No.8 case straps about 10 or so years ago and it's brilliant. Was really looking forward to getting the case and caps as everyone raved about his work.

I think he now lives abroad...... NZ seems to ring in the old memory cells....... That'd be a fair reason for non reply to you. But while I knew him in a very slight way and appreciated his work and quality, I never heard of anything underhand or dishonest about him. I am sure in my bones that there WILL be an explanation.

He was living up towards the Scottish border at the time. I left a message and my number with who he was living with who said he would get back to me, but never did.

After a good few weeks of no contact, his domain lookup had his registered address on it and I offered to come and pick the bits up if he wanted, he then sent the money back after a very basic email asking for my account information. So it all left me feeling very confused.

As said, it was a shame, I hope there was some reason behind it and that everything's alright as he did fill a niche sector with exceptional work.

Well I'm pleased you cleared that up, your first post had me under the impression that you did your money.
But now it seems you received a refund, understandable if the individual was upping stakes for a different world.

Can anyone provide a photo of the buckle arrangement used on the web version of the scope can? Was the same web strap used on the web carrier that replaced the can?

The ones we used were simply 37 or 44 pattern cross straps or that sort of thing. The two ends of the strap were simply joined underneath with a standard non-slip web buckle

In the eighties I'm sure I saw the really green long nylon utility straps being used (not so long once around the tin), the ones with the black metal buckle. They had a shoulder pad that slid on via several elasticated loops and looked very similar to the shoulder pads on the clansman radio bags and GS Bergen straps.
