John Beard...still collecting barrel/steel codes?
If so, I have a SA 10-20 barrel with a steel lot code of "W L 11 3" on top, just in front of FRSB..
Barrel also has an "A" under the date. There are also two small "x"'s for & aft on the FRSB...
Didn't know if you were still doing this...in case you are...here ya go..
Regards

Got it!
Many thanks!
And yes, I'm still collecting barrel steel lot codes if they're convenient.

Back when the CMP
was selling greasy Greek rifles, I asked buyers to report their barrel steel lot codes when they disassembled their rifles for cleaning. On a Springfield Armory rifle, the barrel steel lot code is underneath the wood and the rifle must be completely disassembled to see it. I would never ask anyone to disassemble their rifle just for the sake of reporting their barrel steel lot code to me. But, the greasy Greek rifles had to be disassembled anyway for cleaning. So, many hundreds of buyers were kind enough to report the codes to me.
I recently released a star gauge record number chart for internet publication. You should see it soon. And I need to get busy and prepare a barrel steel lot code chart. I now have plenty of data to do so.
Thanks for your interest!

According to my data base, your barrel should have a "D 2" barrel steel lot code. The "D 2" should appear on the left side of the barrel about 2 inches in front of the RSFB. Sometimes it may be poorly stamped.
I have seen the "Use in SA Only" markings you describe, but have no idea what they mean.
Thanks again for the info!

John, I will add my recent Mark 1 barrel stamp. The SA barrel is stamped 10-19 over an "A", and the code...a few inches forward of the collar is " W L 91". Thanks for all your help, and always taking the time to answer our Emails.
