A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. You can tell the guy in the first picture is well to do, he has a pair of trousers (even if un-pressed Mike) the other rabble don't have a pair between them ..

Though with Ishy SMLE and 1A1, stirling and Sten, who needs slacks!

Is that a UKicon L1A1? It looks like it's a later triple fluted flash eliminator too. Looks short but is that the photo angle

It's almost certainly an IA1 rather than an L1A1.

The pictures would be between '68 (when India started the insurgency into East Pakistan) and '71 (when the Indian Army became overtly involved).

It is very interesting reading regarding how the East Pakistan invasion directly resulted in the Pakistani nuclear weapons program.

I see what you mean about the FE Peter, looks to be three slot, (I think Ishapore did a three slot too) but that's certainly the rounded wooden 1A1 Hand guard profile. The SMLE nose cap however has the typical Australianicon ears cut out slots, wonder if its a Lithgow?

It looks like India gave them a lot of Sterlings. They are in lots of pictures and films of the time.

The wide stripey tie is a nice touch, too.
