Much better now, don't look at it as you lost some blue, it was never there for you. The rust is gone and now it's serviceable.

Very nice the next job I guess is the stock but in seeing the butt when the heel was originally off the rifle in #7 I gather this one will not be a shooter.

Lemon juice will get rid of the rust on the sling. They have the concentrate at the supermarkets. Dab it on so it is soaked and put it out in the sun. Has to be in the sun or it won't work. No scrubbing necessary and it will just vanish. Almost as amazing as electrolysis.
The rifle looks great by the way.

Thanks! Appreciate the tip. I'll give that a try this week and see how it works.
Appreciate the comments everyone! It was one of the more intensive projects I've had in terms of rust, but it came together well. As for the stock issue with the butt, I think this rifle sat in a corner wet for some time, causing the odd damage to just the bottom of the wooden buttplate. The finish on the edges is just fine, but the plate itself turned back to bare wood it seems. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. The biggest issue with that is that the nails are rusted. Not sure what to do for them except put some oil on them and hope for the best. I can't take anything abrasive them without damaging the wood.
