Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. i was hoping that you might know what type of steel the bayonets are made of because the steel is the best i have ever used

It really depends on what bayonet you need the steel spec of because by the very mechanics of blade length and torque each pattern will/might be different. In any case it would be a very simple matter to take a bayonet to a technical college locally and as whether ask a student task, with an acknowledgement afterwards, they could give you the exact steel spec
