hello
I am a life long gun owner and have a number of hunting guns and plinkers. I am looking forward to expanding my collection to include historic shootable rifles. I got the ball rolling with a Mosin Nagant , my goal is to collect firearms from ww1 and ww2 from around the world.

Hello to the community of Milsurps folks. I'm quailridge who has had a lifelong interest in military surplus items. I am also a gun collector specializing in military arms of various countries after 1900. The guns led me to bayonets and then to knives and other tools that an individual soldier might use in their work. I have some web gear but mostly just what I have used myself for hunting or toting stuff.
I only found an outlet to get some good surplus in November when I discovered Ebay. The surplus store on our area sells mostly clothing, little of it vintage. I do not have a reference book on knives, bayonets and web gear but assume I will have to get one although they can be costly. Meanwhile as I settle in with you I would like to be able to ask a few questions about 1905 and 1917 bayonets. I have read what the internet has to teach me as best I could. I look forward to posting a question in the near future. thanks

I am a new member too. The focus of your collection is exactly what I began doing in the 1970's. It has been very rewarding. I chose guns that have a good appearance but are shootable too. It is much more costly now to get the weapons than it was 40 years ago! I cannot buy any more guns as I have all those that interest me. Of course you know that some guys will try to rip you off, so get to know a good gunsmith and find a source for parts for older weapons. Since this is for fun don't spare the money. Get quality pieces that please you visually and functionally. If you or your family ever decide to sell, it is these pieces that will bring in the cash. I used to do a lot of trading. That can help you keep the cash price down. Maybe get a good Garand next, they are getting scarcer and more expensive all the time. Have fun! quailridge

Lifelong milsurp collector, just discovered this forum. I am addicted to Lee Enfields, but have recently added Argentine Mausers to my illness. I hope to learn more from other collectors.

Hello everybody, I'm British but live in France so am able to immerse myself in my hobby/interest with only light interference from the powers that be. I enjoy competitive target shooting with black powder and recreational target shooting with my full bore revolver and semi auto pistol. I also enjoy shooting my Mk 1/2 Martini Henry which is satisfyingly accurate and am saving to get a SMLE and perhaps an L1A1 but the list of wants doesn't end there, however the money does alas.

Looks like another place that will encourage me to lighten my wallet.
I've only been collecting 5-6 years but I have built up a good collection already. My friends lean towards more modern composite rifles so it's hard to spark up good conversation with them. I have been trying out reloading since some of this ammo can be $$$$. Basically works out to be the cost of a coffee every time the trigger is pulled....$1.50......$1.50 etc.
So,hi to all and good times.

Greetings to fellow military collectors! I live in beautiful Southern Illinois, as far away as one can get from that notable city in the northeast corner of Illinois. We are only 65 miles north of the confluence on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.
I have been collecting militaria for some 20 years, specializing in WW 2 US and British weapons and webgear. I am a member of the Tennessee Military Collectors Association and often have tables at their semi-annual shows.
I joined this group as a result of having read Roger Wadhams fine book on accurizing the Lee Enfield.
I look forward to communicating with many of you on matters I have an interest in.
