Thanks John, I'm looking at knocking up a sleeve with a FE to go over the bare barrel but will wait till I have a good look at fitting a bar to the body that will fit inside the butt, with 4" off the barrel it would look a lot better...... hope to give it a run out on Thursday.

John, no pics as the first test run a bit of a disaster, only when making the holding plate for the rear of the bolt assembly casing, that I noticed a small chunk was missing I'll get some pics of that at some point, although I doubt it would be a concern but I think when it initially happened it probably caused a few more issues.

The first problem was light strikes, it was due to the holding plate I made was a few thou less in thickness, so the assembly casing was not snug against the the barrel face, with the aid of some quick made shims (cardboard from a .22 box) it was up and running. A good clean a repair to be done on the bolt itself and a clean on the safety stud it should be fine. Its a a strange kettle of fish as its too complicated with the hold open and mag safety etc.

As for parts, the UK importers are keen to shift them but when it comes spares etc, I've had no success in the past. Problem with this one is the guy who had it died but had it in bits before hand, part from what I can see there may of been other issues...... if only it was a 9mm original MP5........ basic and reliable.

Evening Geoff, nothing is ever easy mate! If I can get my friend to send pics of his FE with measurements, is it viable to make one to fit on your GSG?

Does the GSG have the lugs at the muzzle like the MP5 Geoff.

John , no lugs as Jim says just a long straight barrel, but I intend to make a sleeve with an FE on the end to replace the fake can.... I'm looking at ways to attach a bar to protrude thought the Butt stock (its hollow inside) so I cut the barrel down to 12" and with the bar will make it OA length of 24"........ if you look at the stripped De Lisle on the Enfield forum it looks under 24" to me but probably just the picture and the rear end for the tube, they have been making them for sometime, unless they have permanently fixed the butt etc, or done what I mention above, its something I racked my brains about regarding building one.........

Having a butt perminently fitted to Enfield seems like a really bad idea.

That said, would the authorities regard a De Lisle without a butt as usable anyway??

When I looked at it John and it was from all angles, but the obvious was staring me in the face, you couldn't use the oil bottle channel as the stock bolt goes through, but if you had a hollow stock bolt then all you need to do is weld the bar at the rear of the Butt socket........ You would have to make a tool like the outside part of the adjusting tool for a Mk1 No32 scope but a lot longer to tighten the stock bolt etc..... although you still needed the 12" barrel for our laws, the OA was within IIRC.......

I don't think its to do with so much as usable, more to with concealment and you could use a .45 Enfield with no butt, it does state in the guidance small firearms must have a minimum barrel 30cm and be a length of 60cm.

I've always based it on the LBR and the likes, as with the GSG take the Butt stock off and your left with 60cm......
