Eclectic collecting
Picked this up ages ago at a flea market with all the comm's gear and carry bag for the princely sum of $10/AU.
Would members be able to identify its type (Gentex maybe!) and use I am thinking aircrew on a chopper it was obviously cammoe'd by the owner what era would this be from it has no inner just the foam and earphones.
Thank you.

It is post Vietnam era and probably 1980s or 1990s vintage. Having worn one on occasion, I can tell you that Vietnam era flight helmets had the visor knob at the centre of the visor shield. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same 'bone dome'.
Also, the velcro'd in (dark spots on the Styrofoam lining) sizing and cushioning pads appear to be missing.

Very nice! I have a few flight helmets from a family friend who flew military jets and helicopters throughout his career. They look great on display too.

Here are a couple of slightly more vintage British
flying helmets. I stand to be corrected, but I believe that the leather one is the "C" type as used by the RAF during WW2 and the more "modern" version, with oxygen mask, is an early jet age RAF flying helmet.

The light blue helmets mask looks rather used and skanky we would be so religious in the sterilization of our B/A masks as no one was allocated a B/A unit when the sh*t hit the fan so you just grabbed a unit and geared up.

That's pretty much recent...not far back. Yes, it's been stripped before surplus.

But I think at $10.oo/AU I am not to far out of pocket to suffer a loss if I put it up on fleabay if I decide to part with it and its gear.

I have a selection of hard hats, ranging from the early proto type for jets to Viet Nam. Most except the VN are Navy since that is where I spent most of my time.
I managed to keep almost all of my flight gear when I quit flying in both the Navy & Army.

I think that I paid £10 for the light blue helmet and oxygen mask at a local junk shop, years ago. Even then I knew it was cheap and so I paid the money and left quickly before the price went up.
