I appreciate this mans service, along with his brothers.
But included in this 'offerings' are copies of the correspondence between the gun seller and the brother of the carbines owner, even includes the post office receipts for postage (?) and pictures.. etc and the celebration events the brothers company put on for OK City festival.
I'll admit I just can't see through the smoke and mirrors well enough to concentrate on the carbine.
Just reading the description was more effort than I put in to my senior year of High school.
As Cali201 in post #5 stated, if your looking for ~$13,000 to ~$15,000, I have to wonder what Audie Murphys' carbine is worth?
That might be an idea...... If a museum donation can be used as a tax credit, maybe he could pitch it to one. He does have the display case ready.
Cheers,

P.S. Custom built home? I worked on them for over 35 years. Seen some incredible money spent on 'personal taste' !!

I got burned out on trying to identify buttplates a long time ago, but isn't that one a Winchester? Now sift through 242 pictures and try finding it. - Bob

Think the same seller has a similar cased M1A1 for sale. It now has a crack in the recoil plate area but I swear it didn't have that huge crack when first listed many moons ago. A few other anomalies as well. Also, the opening bid is way lower than I remember but has a reserve.
IBM Buttplate - Reverse sifting, Pic 203 and 204. Appreciate someone capturing the veteran's story. That and the documentation are great, but not sure how a late war IBM would ever get anywhere close to 10k+. Never know, I guess. A lot of that seller's items have the same kind of presentation and documentation. Would think it adds something to the price but not 7k+.

The seller went to great lengths to promote this collection. Much more than a carbine. My problem is TMI as noted above. Wonderful presentation and collection which is perfect for a museum display, not so much for my limited safe space. Would be a shame to separate the historical pics and documentation from the carbine so it is like you are taking on a "caretaker" responsibility for the whole collection if you buy it.

Especially since I started on the original Culver forum. That had to be about 1998.
