With a scope, too. I tried attaching a scope but it came off with the first round. Later models had a ramp to mount scopes.

I was able to inspect one for myself yesterday. I'm going with the Ruger 10/22. It is a curious firearm but just not substantial enough for me. It handled well and looked like it would be a blast to shoot but for that kind of money, close to the same, I'm going 10/22.

They were a special gun for a particular purpose. Like when your bush plane went down, it would likely float out if it went down in the water. They weren't meant for extended use. Mine would lead the barrel so badly I had to use a rod without brush to chip the streaks of lead out. It worked fine though...shot ok usually.

My problem has been solved. I received an email from both Bass Pro and Cabelas that with the merger I can swap the gift card.

You can't beat a 10/22 for all round enjoyment as a very versatile rifle.

Being uninformed I passed on an early Armilite with the reddish brown stock at a fun show last year. Looked it up when I got home. Not the deal of the century but it still stings a year later.
JMO but you made a very good call on the takedown 10/22. Great weapon reliable & accurate. Ruger magazines are dependable & rugged.

Came home today and a Ruger Day's sales ad was on my chair. Ruger 10/22 takedown with Mossy Oak camo and flash suppressor along with an extra 25 round magazine for $299. $20 more than the Henry survival rifle. Didn't even get a shower or change, just went and got it. Local gun shop only about 10 minutes away so not so bad.

If only you knew. Odd place to make announcements but the past few weeks have been a whirlwind. My youngest daughter got engaged and my oldest informed me I'm going to be a grandpa. Oh, and I got a Chassepot rifle and the Ruger 10/22 and a super rare Carcano stock. Not sure which is the best.....no I know, the grandpa thingy with the engagement a close second.
