"Replica" m91/30 sniper
So while looking into hunting with one of my milsurp rifles and I happened across a replica of a PU scope for the m91/30 and that got me thinking. I was thinking that if I got myself a second mosin I could have that one drilled and tapped for the scope. My thinking is that while the mosin is getting more expensive they are far from a rare item and because I have zero intention on selling it or passing it off as the original article I don't see a problem with it.
What I am trying to figure out is if this is something that someone has done and has any advice to pass along

My guess is that, by now, the vast majority of both original PU scopes and replica scopes have ended up being fitted to M91/30s. I doubt that they are bought for the display cabinet!
Hundreds, maybe thousands have done it. And (unfortunately) many of them seem to have no qualms about the result being passed off as original.
Any gunsmith who is competent enough to fit a scope onto a hardened receiver should be able to do it.
But first get access to a genuine sniper rifle to measure the positions for the fixing screws!
Note that a cutout will have to be made in the stock as well!
But be aware that you will also need a bolt with a long-turned-down bolt handle to clear the mounted scope!
- That will send the cost up considerably, maybe making the ewhole operation financially unattractive!

hindsight is 20/20
well pretty much right after I posted this I did some more digging and it turns out that the end result would not be that much cheaper than an actual mosin sniper.

This PE was at a local gun show this past weekend. Looked like it could be restored.
