When I first saw this I thought ugh! But after looking at the auction pictures I think it is so unique that I've changed my opinion. The stock and checkering are well done. My only questions would be the action strength with such a powerful cartridge and does it feed properly? I know very little about the SVT so these are just some things that came to mind. Salt Flat

Well when looking back over it, I note it says only “458”
Not necessarily the Winchester round. A wildcat of 7.62x55r, maybe?
It’s certainly something unique.

Interesting! At least the gas port remains well to the front unlike those .303 conversions done here in Canada. The SVT action is not exactly delicate and the Soviets added meat to the receiver sidewalls with progressive changes through to mid '43. My references suggest this was mainly to reduce stretch of the body which contributed to case head separations in the earliest versions. But the bolt is pretty massive and the locking lug is large and bears on a hardened insert that is pressed into the receiver. I suspect the main problem with sporterized versions would be getting the timing of the gas system spot on. Even with the regular rifle and surplus light ball I've often had the feeling that the bolt is opening with some significant remaining chamber pressure- lots of fouling blown back into the bolt/carrier, magazine, etc.

Well I for one would not want to be near that when someone tries to fire the SVT-40. Just in case mayhem happens. The SKS? well it's not an SKS. It's a built from parts kit AK-74. Instead of rivets they used screws on the frame.
