Refurb M1
My apologies. I'm using Imgur as a photo hosting site and am experiencing trouble in linking my images to this web-site. I've tried to show four images. I thought I did this by pasting the Imgur image site to my initial post. it doesn't show up in the posting. Perhaps I should manually enter the sites address rather than cutting or pasting. I'll keep trying. Thank you for your patience.

When the US Ordnance rebuilds M1
rifles , sometime a new barrel is required and drawn from stock. The supply of barrels could go back as far as WW2.
A few years ago the CMP
sold new M1 barrels to the members and barrels dating back to WW2 were found,

A barrel can be put on by anyone, it's no problem...rifles are reconfigured every day. Yes it could have come from arsenal stocks or it could have been changed after the '65 date for the barrel that you see.
