Let us know how it shoots...probably stellar.
Yeah I’ll try to post a range report within the next week or two.

Update
Update:
I detail stripped the "Dutch" Garand. I replaced the old recoil spring, greased the rifle with Mobil 1 Synthetic grease, and dropped in a Garand Gear gas plug since I had one on hand.
When I shot it I was shooting at an 8" steel plate at around 50 yards, so I don't have any accuracy to report (well, I guess I can tell you it will hold 16MOA, haha). However, the gun functioned well.
During the detail strip, I found these markings under the rear handguard. Can anyone tell me what they possibly mean? I've googled and haven't had any luck. They are directly on top of the chamber.

As far as I've been able to learn, the D35448 W.R.A. is just the drawing number for the barrel. However, the other markings directly above the chamber have me puzzled.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Rebuilt at one of the ordinance base shops on March 2, 1945. Specifically OBS #3 but I can’t tell you where it was. Seems that OBS 3 was likely in Brisbane Australia.

Thanks for the info twh!
Pretty neat. After more googling I found pictures of another garand with the exact same markings on the barrel. Must have been stamped on the same day as mine! I did see someone post something interesting about the dates possibly being reversed on some rebuild dates, like in the European style. So I guess it could also be February 3, 1945 too. Either way its within one month, haha.
Very cool that this is a WWII installed barrel.
I wonder if anyone else has more info on these ordinance base shops?
Thanks
Jake
