Peter Laidler -- anybody know how he's doing?
Does anybody know how Peter Laidler
is doing? Is he able to communicate?
(Yes, I know. I searched the forum, no mention here. Plenty elsewhere...)
He has done me some solids, as he has for many on this forum, and I hope he's OK.

He was railroaded I suspect, and if he wasn't, what of it?
As you say, he has done many favours for many people for many years. I doubt anyone on any of these forums has done as much.
This matter doesn't erase all that.
So who wants to pick up the first stone?
NB: stones can have a surprising degree of bounce-back at times.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.

I've had no communication from him and am unaware of anyone else that has.

Others on other forums already have. I won't name names -- I'll just say I had them pegged for what they showed themselves to be, years ago.

That's why I asked -- he might need some cheering up. Maybe people can send him reading material. I don't know what's allowed, how it's done, etc.
And somebody might point out to him the similar story of somebody in Denmark
-- Claus Espeholt. Was and remains an authority on German
WWII guns.

The only thing I will add to this is I was told by a fellow milsurper to look at the UK
based full-bore forum back in December, someone had started a thread regarding Peter and the Ill informed bile and bulls*it that spewd forth (from the usual big mouths) reminded me why I left that forum some years ago!

It is hardly surprising some people have vented their anger on other forums; many owners and organisations have had firearms impounded by the MOD police and are still trying to get them back in the wake of Peter's trial.

And those very firearms were shown in the trial not to be stolen and nothing to do with PL, so any anger directed at him is both misplaced and unjustified. They should be getting angry with the MOD Police, their witch hunt and abject refusal to return lawfully owned property, rather than the person who the witch hunt was aimed at. I also suspect that none of those angry people getting vocal on other forums would have the balls to say it to his face, let alone the justification.
He is doing very well, upbeat and waiting for his time to pass. He is in regular contact with people who supported him and he has contact details for.
All being well he could be out early 2021 due to sentencing guidelines.
