No.32 MKIII scope
Hello, I picked up this scope about 5 months ago and after research here I think I'm in the right place. I'll post photos. Any info would be appreciated. I'll be offering for sale.
The optics are sound and nothing rattles!

There is a match making service (Angels) here under rifles looking for scopes as there may be a T that that scope was matched to originally hopefully still ticking the number on the bracket as well is important looks like single staked screws so it has not been messed with to much. Do the turretrs turn freely as the lubricant that old tended to gum them up don't force them or put any heat on them to try and loosen them up don't laugh some have tried and stuffed the post/cross hair.
It is a MkIII No 32 same breed as mine but a rather higher serial and year mines a 1944 vintage

It's from the first batch (numbering 1800) of Mk.III scopes made in autumn of 1944 by A.Kershaw and Son.

Yes, the first few are dated 44 & the rest 45. If the owner of rifle C34884 is out there you'll have him over a barrel....!

Per my records with AKS first block of Mk III's, roughly the first 800 AKS were '44 dated, lowest s/n observed 16561, highest 17378 with '44 dates, 17472 to 18417 with '45 dates.

2nd contract batch of Mk.III's made by Cooke Troughton & Simms started at serial number 18300...?

Going on what your saying GeeRam that puts my scope in the first 200 actually 177th of the first batch and as stated it is marked 1944.
I learn everytime I come to this site and what a site it is.

Thank you all for the input. Yes, the turrets move freely with light "clicks". I assume that is normal? I'll check in again later, off to work. Thanks all!

Latest AKS I have on record is 18417, earliest CTS is 18442. Peter's s/n list in his publication were just rough estimates. Sorry for the crapy pic's (stolen from the web)
