1934 serialed rifle with an SA 11-34 barrel

Hello Milsurps Friends,

I am tracking a 1934 serialed rifle with an SA 11-34 barrel installed. The serial, 1469233, places it about in the middle of the production numbers for 1934. Do any of y’all know if there are any monthly records of serials/production.........like we see with the M1 Garand rifle? Is it possible that a mid year serial numbered receiver could be originally mated to a Nov 1934 barrel?

There are other discrepancies on this complete rifle that indicate an arsenal rebuild or just one one replacing parts.......looks to be a A3 straight stock; B&S type 1 bolt body; rear sight ladder with top notch; cut off with serifs; some kind of target front sight blade; fine checkered butt plate.

Am not too concerned about the other parts, but I have been searching for an agreeing 1933 and 1934 receiver/barrel rifles for some years, now.

You may not have asked for it, but did you notice:
- the stock is not a SA made stock. It has the inletting for the 03A3 handguard retainer ring as well. So not period correct
- front sight blade is a replacement
- bolt is a replacement

Looking at these facts plus the asking price you'll be able to get a much better rifle at a much better price.

Looks like a parts gun. Put together with what the seller had in his parts bin. Badly overpriced, stay away from this one.

Yes, I did notice those things......mentioned them in my post. Am not looking for just an 03.....I am looking for a 1933 and a 1934 with barrel dates that agree, which I also mentioned and have been searching for several years. The discrepancies can be corrected if necessary. If its just about money.......which it always seems to be.....then I don;t know. Yeah....the price is horrendous.

Jason, at that price you could buy a barreled action and from then on all parts on eBay or gunbroker. Don't waste your money on an item like this. If the starting price was $ 750 and you want that year only, I would say go and get it, but at that price you'd do a serious mistake.

Promo......Am not saying that I would or am buying it.....and your replies still haven't addressed my question about the possibility of the receiver and barrel being originally mated.. I do not need any old '03 barreled action. I need a 1933 and a 1934 with an agreeing serial number and barrel date to complete my collection of 1928-1940 rifles. Thanks for your concern.

CMP sold off barreled-receivers many years back. Not too much $175?? or so. Probable the barrel matches the receiver. But at this price you should be looking at a mint gun and all correct parts. In other words you would never pay this much for a faked up gun. Try some of the auction houses. Rock Island has small local auctions all of the time. Orange Coast has real guns at decent money. Try those folks first. A parts gun will always look like a parts gun and collectors will spot it right away. Avoid this rifle.

Have searched Rock Island.....Morphy..........gunsamerica..........gu nsinternational.........all of the large vendors...........the Riverofgu s forum search engine and even Google search. I have been doing
This for several years searching for Mated receiver/barrel 1933 and 1934 rifle. CMP selling barreled receivers many years ago does not help my search. I understand what you say. A mint gun with all correct parts may not exist. And I HAVE been searching.

Sure, the discrepancies are noted, but could they not be corrected? Not everything revolves around money and opportunities may be few and far between......even if the example isn’t perfect.
