The stock has a boxed "JLA/1896" cartouche on the left side. Of note, the stock appears to be an 1892 Model Krag stock modified into a carbine stock. This is noted by the filled in cleaning rod channel seen in front of the band, and the filled in rear sling swivel. Circled "P" firing proof on the wrist. Correct "C" marked carbine sight and sight
