SRS Check?
I did the search, came up with nothing - what is an SRS check? I gather something to do with service record of the rifle?
Mine is a SA of 1929 sn. 1313961.
Thank you in advance for any enlightenment.

The SRS list was a compilation of research done by Frank Mallory. It lists all of the sales of National Match and DCM sales rifles to civilians (prior to 1941), and also includes many other serial numbers Frank found in his research at the National Archives. These include rifles that were reported aboard ships, acquired for the Banana Wars, and sent to Marine Recruit Training Depots. The list consists of a lot of rifles, though certainly not most of them.
Yours serial number is not a direct hit, and there are surprisingly few 1313xxx rifles in the list. Here are the closest to yours:
1313123 09-09-42 MAINE MARITIME ACAD
1313368 10-08-45 ABERDEEN PROVING GND
1313894 11-14-36 CLARKSON COLLEGE
1314004 11-14-36 CLARKSON COLLEGE

That is interesting - I assume the surrounding sn #s at Clarkson College were for ROTC? If so, and this one was part or that and was not shot much, might explain the great looking original bore.
At least I can have this story in my head, right?
Thank you for the reply!
