Or ask
BDL
to paint it in sunkorite for you. That's pretty damn original!
Original but it would not mask the screw holes.

I'm showing my ignorance on Enfields. Until now, I had no idea they were painted (did zero research). I knew the Ishapore models were parked and then painted, but had no idea the ones built in Englad were so finished.
I have not fired it yet, but maybe this weekend. If so, will post observations.

Don't worry, you are not alone in this group
I still learn new Enfield facts every day. Keep hanging around, it's the best way...
Looking forward to the range report!

You´re much better off the way it is now rather than having that sh*tty chipped black stove enamel. Think your rifle looks GREAT!
(PS Mine are rust blued).

Just fired it. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! I expected it to kick like a mule because it is so light, but I was wrong. I have no idea how accurate as I was firing into a hillside just to check operation. But...it did fire and was pleasant to shoot. I'm sure it will be more accurate than my bad eyes will allow.
By the way, thanks for all your input. I have three other Enfields (a beat-up #4, a pristine MKIII* Lithgow
, and a new-looking Eddystone P14) so I am sure to be using this newly discovered forum a lot.

Enfields can surprise you! I recently aquired a beat up looking #4 for a low price and was thinking about the old saying of ya get what ya pay for when I brought it home. Holy Cow was I wrong ! It shoots every bit as good as my other "better looking" Enfields that I paid more for. There is another saying that applies in this instance......pretty is as pretty does.

And when you shoot it, don't forget the ear protectors. They're Loud!
