Shame a potential all matching rifle, was re-barrelled, and re-stocked and thus its now no longer matching....but that was probably done back decades ago, when an all matching untouched K98k
wasn't worth $2-3k+ value that they are today.
dd suffix to the serial number is just the block letter suffix.
For each year, serial numbers started at 1 up to 9999, and then a suffix letter starting at a thru to z for each block of 9999, and then they started with a double letter suffix of aa, then bb etc.
Puts your rifle being made very late in 1941, probably around Nov 1941.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.

Auction house BS.
Because your rifle was re-stocked you are missing your arm of service acceptance stamp to know whether it was originally Heer, Kriegsmarine or Luftwaffe that originally accepted it into service.

Obviously each arm of service accepted large batches of rifles from each factory at any given time, but it's not a given that they were all from distinct serial number blocks, although by default its quite likely many were in the same serial blocks if they were taken straight from the production line.
Obviously, if you were to see a few other rifles with serial numbers close to yours that were say all Heer stamped it's quite probable that yours would also have been Heer stamped etc., but not a 100% certainty.

That's pretty close in number, so while you can't be even close to 100% certain, there's a fair chance your rifle was also originally a Lufty issue as well.
