Does anyone know how many were issued to HMS CANADA.

We need to consider that the DA markings were put onto the rifles and bayonets by the Chileans when they were received with HMS Canada in 1920. Whether this was the complete stock with which she had been issued in 1916, I doubt that we shall ever know. If so, surviving DA numbers suggest that the original issue was somewhat in excess of 400.

I was at Milarm in Edmonton and bought a nice Snider, Carcano and a P14 Enfield then I noticed a Ross .I asked can I put i on layaway?
We cant do that on consignments, so I went home but that rifle bugged the **** out of me, the next day I said to hell with it I will put on my credit card.
So I went back and they said said someone bought it, I said to myself well you lost on that one. Christmas day I had a present, I unwrapped 9 boxes.
I opened the last one and there was a Ross bolt, tears welled up in my eyes and my wife said go to the spare room and get the rest of your present.
Under the bed was DA69 I will never part with it or my darling wife

For people posting their HMS Canada DA serial numbers
Please remember to let us know all three (3) of them, not just the rifle and bayonet.
Also if you know the rifle serial number (year, two letter series and number from above the date as well as any unit issue markings we would love to know these as well.
1. Rifle body/received left side
2. Bolt top at rear
3. Bayonet cross-guard
