My New SA/GHS
I finally got an SA/GHS. I've tried for years and never have been able to afford one. This one is correct, not original and I was hoping for your thoughts on my new family member. There is no rear sight seal. 6-41 barrel and not LL. I think I got a great deal too.

Did you mean front sight screw seal?
I see you also have a numbered gas cylinder...nice.

You say correct NOT original? Or did you mean correct AND original?
Looks all good to me...nice rifle.

Yes, I meant front sight seal, my bad. The seller said he used some parts he had to make it correct so, I don't think its original. What I got it for I'm ok with correct not original. The gas cylinder seems too pretty to be on an 82 year old rifle. Gas lock screw looks kinda new too.

Those are pretty easy to refinish to new standard, as long as they're serviceable. You'd have to gauge it to find that out.

Nice job, good find! Way back in the day, I talked my way into the Numrich warehouse, they had bins and bins of M1
parts stacked five high. I pulled down a bin of sights and examined a couple of hundred... the bottom of the bin was covered with sight seals that had either fallen out of sights or just tossed in there. I took three or four
When I went back to the shop for them to price the parts, they had no idea what to charge, so the guy said, "Ah, just take them, no charge."
Real men measure once and cut.

Nice. Last I saw them in the NOS packaging they were $50USD. Probably unavailable now.

Hahaha! I do live in Wyoming. We're not feeling so lucky this year. Snow has been on the ground since early December. It usually melts then comes back. Getting this one was part luck(knowing where to look) and part patience(many times there's nothing there when I do look)but I am pleased with it. I haven't had too much time to look at it closely, my wife keeps saying I love my guns more than her.

She'll get past that if you buy a couple and tell her they're for her.

I took her shooting with my first carbine. After she shot it, she said, that's mine. So I got to buy another.
