Reads " SA 2811016 Private Owner local gun shop Very clean rifle. Danish VAR barrel dated 8-66. TE gauges less than 2. Very tight and accurate for an "as issued" rifle"
But, it doesn't say a name of who the owner is of course.

In my time it has the original barrel dated 5.44
It had some pitting but was still a good shooter
I will post some pictures from these old days

Pitted barrels to an armorer can be a death knell. Most will change that barrel. Our direction certainly was to do that.
I was in Cyprus in '75 and saw the Danes carrying the M1 rifles there. I remember wanting to go have a look at them...
