You appear to be reading the article as the transfer of Brent to Ireland occurred C.1940 but if the transfer occurred 2 or 3 years earlier there would have been no knowledge of what was to follow in 1940.

I don't give that article any credence at all. It seems based on pure fabrication and speculation --a fanciful theory to explain the presence of early Czech
-mde Bren guns in Ireland. No authority is cited. The "ifs" are conspicuous. What is missing is any explanation why the British
would WANT to give Ireland any Brens when they themselves had only started to replace the Lewis.
The prewar records of Zbrojovka Brno of orders for the "Kulomet Bren" in .303 from 1935-40 do not show Ireland.
