Read it myself and enjoyed it.
Wonder how it would of went for him if the German
's had won?
With a French
parent would of he been vilified at home or praised?

I read that many years ago, maybe I can dig it out again. Thanks for the reminder.

I first encountered this book in 2006. It was one of the books I read while on vacation. Since then I have read all or part of it several times. It is a well written first person account of Sajer's experience of serving in the German
army during WWII. Many of the incidents described are riveting. His descriptions of training, equipment and the seemingly haphazard nature and quality of meals are most interesting. From what he writes, his experience in Russia
was a open wound that likely haunted him to the grave. Like "All Quiet On The Western Front," it would make a good movie. JMHO. Sincerely. BruceV.

I really suggest you read it. You can get it from Amazon.com for about $12.00.

Sounds interesting, why don't you do a review in the Book and Video forum?
