Question about SRS
Hey guys...I haven't kept up with this, but how do you go about subscribing to SRS to use the data base? I used to use it when it was free and found it real handy. Thanks for any info.

If I understood your question correctly, a membership does not give you access to the data base. It only allows you to order letters.

AHA!!! So how do you get access to the database these days? Or do you? TIA
-
According to their website, membership gets you a "reasonable" (their word) number of look-up requests, not access to their data base.

You can alos buy the 4 volume set of book with the serial date base. The serial number data base covers not only 1903 , but M1
Garands, Carbines 1911, trapdoor, Krag, Colt percussion, Colt SAA, sharps, Winchester shotguns and more.

Sounds like buying the set of books is the way to get unlimited access to the database. So maybe that would explain why I see posters requesting somebody to look up a serial number, huh?

Remember the data is old. SRS is working on comming out with an update to the set of books but I do not know when.

Mark, In reading the June 09 issue of MARTIAL ARMS COLLECTOR Mr. Gagner states no further books will be done and in fact there is no longer a list of MAC serial number books for sale. there were five books V.1-3 then V.4 in 1995 and V.4 in 1999??
So are the books even for sale any longer? He does state a new on-line service is in the works, so it may be some type of pay for number data service.
