PH 5A on Long Lee
Does anybody know if it is possible to use a PH 5A on a Long Lee with Enfield rifling and the MKVII calibrated rear sight?
Cheers
Steve

According to the PH catalogue you need a 6A for the Long Lee - 2 reasons :
a) The mounting bracket is different. The 6A uses the two holes from the dumbell.
b) The eyepiece on the 6A is located under the windage arm to get line of sight on the barrel axis
I would have thought if the 5A could be used then PH would have mentioned it.
To answer your question - Personally I have no idea.

Even if it is possible, the calibrations are irrelevant, only getting you to an approximate position. Better to "count the clicks"

Hi Devils Own,
Somewhere in this part of enfield history I think the wrist angle changed. I have sights that have a for and aft lean when mounted on rifles other than designed for. so its possible that a 5a from 1920's would lean if mounted on your rifle.
But, re Alan de Enfield's post about under arm mounted eyepiece, I have some parts here that I haven't previously been able to identify but would be a match for what Alan has described, If you're interested drop me a PM message.

Thanks fellas
I have a PH5A and was thinking about getting a specific Long Lee I've seen for sale. If it could have been fitted I would clinch the rifle but I've gone off the idea now.
