A Winchester Comes Home
My story started back during the release of the Bavarians by CMP
on 10/1. Order was received on the 1st of October and was notified later that I'd be getting a Service Grade Underwood. On 11/2, I got the Underwood, but it was a Rural Police. Wrong info on the hang tag ID'ed it as Forestry. Went through Customer Service, and this is what I received on 12/1.
Winchester 1217920 spring tube receiver. With the exception of LGK OO 1366 on trigger housing, 7920 in sling well and Bavaria Forestry Police – O on receiver, no other Bavaria/Austria
marks present.
Please correct my mistakes, as I'm a "newb".
Thanks,
Mike

You got the Bavarian I was hoping to get. Nice score. It looks like the CMP
goes out of their way to make people happy when a gun is returned for whatever reason.

I should have specified that what I originally ordered on 10/1 was a Forestry Police Service Grade w/ flip sights. That's why I returned the Underwood. Just wanted to get what I paid for.

So is your Winchester original finish? It does not look nearly as blue/buff as the Underwood was.

I'm not an expert though it appears the Winchester got the black oxide treatment, just not as highly buffed as most (like the Underwood). I believe the bolt to have the original finish. Here's a higher res photo of the bolt/receiver.

Very nice carbine, That Underwood was a little to blue for my taste.
