How can you have a meaningful survey WITHOUT a category for English weapons as a group!? What of us L1A1, Sterling sub guns, Brens, etc., etc. I know as a group we should be ranking much higher.

However, having roots in the deep South, my family would disown me should I show any interest in things Germanicon or Japaneseicon! Going to the Mauser instead of a Lee Enfield is like dating the girl with hair under her arms. Yuck.

Hope you Mauser owners know I am joking.

I collect pre-1945 guns that have interesting service histories - and these days the weirder the better. So I'm interested in Bolivian or Paraguayan (or espescially Mexican) Mausers, but not Argentineicon or Chilean, pre but not post 1922 Turkishicon Mausers, etc.

For WWII, I love my Finnishicon M39! I intend to get another Finnish M-N before the year is out. Other than that, I'm more into the black powder military arms (ala Trapdoors and muzzleloaders).

Why so little interest in Frenchicon guns ? I've been told the MAS is a good shooter , and nearly as cheap as Russianicon stuff ..... or is it personal .

Don't get me wrong , I wouldn't swap my L-E , but thats because I grew up with them .

    I like them all

If it's interesting I'll buy it.

Like bouletbill I don't see much interest in Frenchicon weapons. One of club members has brought home a medal from the NRA matches at camp Perry the last two years, this year is was gold. He was shooting a MAS 36. So I know at least the 36 can shoot. I haven't had much luck with any of my French rifles, 89/93, berthiers, MAS or whatever. If I can get a new rubber chamber seal for my chassepot and some reasonably priced ammo I'll try it but not being a particularly good shot don't hold much hope.

Needless to say my primary interest is in Thompsons. With a secondary in Stens.
