    Joining the Force

As the newest member of this forum, I'll just say that I'm impressed with the quality of the exchanges I've seen. I'm a retired U.S. Army guy (21 years, including Vietnam) and worked as a defense journalist for another 18 years (trips to Bosnia and Iraq, among other places). I recently acquired an Enfield from an even older grunt than me (he brought it to the U.S. after WWII). Now I'm trying to identify the unit indicated on the Regimental I.D. disk: "P.W." The rifle was manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company in 1914 (serial number 107XX): it has the dial sight plate and volley sight. The stock is a beautiful piece of tiger maple, and the rifle is in exceptional condition. Except for a few minor dings on the wood, it shows very little wear. Perhaps "P.W." indicates a ceremonial or home guard unit: the rifle doesn't look as though it has seen much, if any, combat use. Any help in identifying "P.W." would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi folks. I like collecting, shooting, bullet casting and reloading. I have been at it for 45 some years but it never gets old.

    New member

    Hi there,
I am a new member and look forward to reading all the posts. I am a retired clinical psychologist and have been collecting and shooting guns for more than 50 years. I also enjoy reloading as a hobby. I was on the Joustericon forum before this one and learned a great deal from this.
